What is the meaning of “Halal” ?
General about Halal
Halal is a term designating any object or an action within the Islamic Law (Islamic Shariah Law). Generally, this term is used to designate food seen as permissible according to the Islamic Law. The opposite of “Halal” is “Non-Halal” or “Haram”, which means “Forbidden” for Muslims. Therefore, Muslims only consume products that are certified “Halal” and avoid products that are “Not Halal”.
For Muslims, the “Halal standard” functions as a guideline and is extremely important in order to maintain the Islamic way life. However, with the myriads of products and services out there, it is difficult to distinguish Halal from Haram(forbidden). On top of that, each country has its own standard of HALAL.
Halal does not only apply to food and drinks but also to cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, nursing care products, finance and other services.
